Royal Hobart Hospital: K Block Update

On 27 February 2020, the Minister for Health Sarah Courtney announced that the THS will not be accepting practical completion of K Block as anticipated due to concerns regarding noise levels within K block itself. The Secretary of Health has advised that experts would attend the site on 28 February to review the issue and is hopeful that a revised timeline, for practical completion once rectification works have been undertaken, will be available soon.

ANMF have sought confirmation that contingency plans have been made regarding plans for any coronavirus outbreak and the impending flu season if the K block completion date pushes out further, given the constraints already with capacity and bed block. The Secretary has assured the ANMF that these issues have been taken into account and are being planned for. When revised practical completion dates are known by ANMF, members will be informed.

Updates correct as at 4 March 2020.
