Launceston General Hospital (LGH) Update
Uniforms and PPE
Following contact from members, the ANMF have written to the Tasmanian Health Service (THS) seeking clarification regarding a number of items including the donning and doffing of uniforms at work, the time allocated for this to occur, and the facilities provided to enable this. Other items included the laundering of uniforms and the supply of personal protective equipment (PPE). The ANMF have requested an urgent response and will advise members of the outcomes via a email newsflash as soon as a response is received.
4O/4B
Following a member meeting on 29 January 2020, the ANMF have written to the THS regarding the workload concerns of our members and their ongoing feeling that this is not been addressed by the outcomes presented during the working group meeting. The ANMF, on behalf of members, have again requested seven staff to be rostered on night shift. Further, we have stressed that this is not to be at the detriment of other shifts. The ANMF have also asked that the THS undertake a review of the Birthrate Plus data.
We are seeking a response to this letter by 21 April 2020, however we have been advised that this may not be achievable given the current COVID-19 situation. Once a response has been received, the ANMF will provide feedback to members and take further direction. Please keep an eye on your emails for more information regarding this.
Emergency Department
The ANMF have been advocating for our members working at the Launceston General Hospital Emergency Department to ensure additional resourcing is provided to assist with the anticipated increase in workload with COVID-19. The ANMF can advise that some additional resourcing has been forthcoming. Click here to read the latest ANMF newsflash for details. We remain committed to resolving the long standing workload concerns of our members.
Updates correct as at 1 April 2020.
