Launceston General Hospital (LGH) Updates
Acute Medical Unit (AMU)
On Thursday 23 April 2020, the AMNF was contacted by Tasmanian Health Service (THS) North Human Resources to discuss a short notice change to shift start times for the Acute Medical Unit. This change was in response to managing COVID-19 PPE donning and doffing requirements. Following this, the ANMF surveyed members regarding the proposed change. 90.63% of members voted in favour of changing the shift times. The ANMF will write to THS management confirming key matters around the temporary nature of this change and will update members of any developments as they come to hand. Ward 5A
On 15 April 2020, the ANMF received a response from the Tasmanian Health Service to our letter regarding Ward 5A Step 2 Grievance sent 26 February 2020. The ANMF advise members that management have agreed to keep the Clinical Coach positions and six staff rostered on night shift until skill mix improves. Management acknowledge that ANUM rostering continues to be an area of concern and they are working to address this daily. While agreeing that a pathology nurse would be beneficial on weekends, management have indicated that the Clinical Coach can support this workload. The ANMF understand members feel this workload should not be supported by the Clinical Coach and will continue to advocate for a pathology nurse on your behalf. Please see the latest update for members working on Ward 5A here.
Updates correct as at 29 April 2020.
