Bapt Care – Karingal
The ANMF met with members from Karingal on 8 October. Following this meeting it has been sought with the Residential Services Manager to discuss member concerns. Members will be kept informed of the outcome via email and follow up with face to face meetings.
Southern Cross Care
Yaraandoo
ANMF officials attended a meeting with members at Yaraandoo on 18 September 2020, to seek clarity regarding the ongoing concern Southern Cross Care members have statewide. The ANMF will continue to progress the statewide approach to resolving member workload concerns.
Marys Grange
The ANMF are concerned about the impact of changing personnel and nursing leadership at the Southern Cross Care Marys Grange site. We will be visiting members soon to check in and listen to their concerns. Keep an eye on your email for meeting details.
Guilford Young Grove
The ANMF will visit members at Guilford Young Grove shortly to touch base and discuss updates on several matters from members. Hopefully, after a number of attempts, we will also be able to meet with the new Facility Manager.
Sandown Apartments
The ANMF has received correspondence from Southern Cross Care regarding the proposal to reduce care hours at Sandown Apartments. We will be in touch with members once we have assessed the proposal and considered a response. We suspect that Southern Cross Care’s plan to implement 7am to 10am morning ‘shifts’ will not appeal to members and the ANMF will be meeting to discuss this shortly.
Rosary Gardens
A meeting was held with management at Rosary Gardens on 7 October to discuss workloads and other matters. Rebecca Eiszele has committed to visit Rosary Gardens during a day shift to examine and discuss workload issues with nursing and care staff on the floor. In addition, she will examine rosters at the facility to verify ANMF and member claims that the site is over-casualised, thus causing difficulties in replacing absences. Facility Manager, Ann Bingham will examine sick leave data and work with staff to facilitate leave opportunities for stressed and tired staff.
Fairway Rise
The ANMF met with members on 8 October, during this time we were able to welcome the sites newest ANMF Workplace Representative, Sam Ransley. During this meeting, discussion revealed the transfer of data from Autumn Care to Icare is onerous and slow. Many other mattes were discussed and the ANMF will be forwarding correspondence to Southern Cross Care regarding this.
Updates correct as at 15 October 2020.
