Aged Care Updates – Statewide

Huon Regional Care

The ANMF will attend a staff meeting on 12 November 2020 to work with members and the new acting Facility Manager toward clarifying a number of issues, including the Enrolled nursing role, recent management changes, the roster, checking of scheduled medications, and staffing structure. Following this meeting, the ANMF will meet with management in Franklin to discuss issues further.

Barrington Lodge

The ANMF visited Barrington Lodge on 3 November 2020, to meet with the new Workplace Representatives and discuss workplace matters with members. We were pleased to hear some very positive developments at Barrington Lodge around recruitment, workloads, and skill mix. We will return in the new year to work on putting together as Log of Claims for next year’s Enterprise Agreement negotiations and provide support for a non-nursing agreement at Barrington Lodge.

Masonic Care Tasmania – Fred French and Peace Haven

On 11 March 2020, the ANMF wrote to the management of Masonic Care Tasmania regarding member concerns that their 15-minute paid handover per shift was not being provided as required under the Nursing Enterprise Agreement. After initial consultation and negotiation, Masonic Care Tasmania has now made payments to nurses who contacted us prior to the 22 of September 2020. Members who have engaged with the ANMF after this date are currently having claims for payment processed. If you believe you may be entitled to this handover payment, please get in touch with our Member Support Team.

Southern Cross Care

Marys Grange

The ANMF are still awaiting formal correspondence from Southern Cross Care Tasmania and will arrange to meet with members as soon as we have further information to provide. We have been in contact with the Facility Manager and CCC, who are also awaiting some detail about the proposed changes and how they will affect the staff.

Guilford Young Grove

The ANMF are liaising with Workplace Representatives at Guilford Young Grove to receive updates about the overall staffing conditions there. We will continue to stay in touch with members and keep an eye on the issues. If you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch with our Member Support Team.

Sandown Apartments

On behalf of members, the ANMF have acted on the issue of Southern Cross Care Tasmania reducing care hours at their Sandown facility. A meeting with members will be scheduled to update them in person and consult about the new roster format.

Rosary Gardens

The ANMF have been speaking with Workplace Representatives at Rosary Gardens regarding the progress of a number of issues discussed with management some weeks ago. The ANMF will visit with members in the coming week to check-in. Please keep an eye on your email for further details for this meeting time.

Fairway Rise

The ANMF forwarded correspondence to Southern Cross Care Tasmania regarding issues at Fairway Rise on 30 November 2020. We have received reports of very slow progress with the data transfer, and several new related problems that have resulted, including the loss of nursing staff.

Ainslie, Glenara Lakes and Mount Esk

The ANMF continues to liaise with Southern Cross Care Tasmania regarding numerous staff workload concerns. We have received correspondence back from the employer regarding the concerns and will be in contact with them regarding their response.
