Public Sector Updates – South

Royal Hobart Hospital

Inpatient Oncology Unit

The ANMF conducted a survey in December 2020 for ward 9A staff to provide feedback regarding the Tasmanian Health Service’s suggested response to the ongoing Step 2 Workload Grievance. The results indicated that the majority of respondents are in favour of the proposal and as such the ANMF will inform the Tasmanian Health Service accordingly and establish timelines and specific details as to how this will be implemented. Members will be informed of the progress of these plans via email as more details come to hand.

General Surgical Unit

The ANMF attended a Workload Monitoring Committee meeting with the Tasmanian Health Service last month, in an attempt to arrive at an agreeable solution to the ongoing workload and staffing concerns on the unit. Regrettably, no such outcome was achieved on the day. As such, the two parties will be reconvening at the Tasmanian Industrial Commission (TIC) in late March 2021, with another benchmarking meeting and shared governance meeting anticipated to occur prior to that time. The ANMF will endeavour to re-convene with members in the unit as soon as practicable to give a more detailed account of these events, as well as outline a planned course of action leading up to, and including, the next TIC hearing.

Updates correct as at 7 January 2021.
