Launceston General Hospital

Operating Room Suite (ORS)

The ANMF raised a Step 1 grievance relating to workloads in the ORS just prior to Christmas. Unfortunately this correspondence was not apparently received by Tasmanian Health Service (THS) management. The ANMF have now confirmed that THS will provide a response by 18 February 2020. The ANMF will schedule a report back meeting with members shortly, with the time and date to be confirmed.

Crisis Assessment Triage Team (CATT)

Just prior to Christmas, the ANMF raised a Step 2 grievance relating to workloads in the Crisis Assessment Triage Team (CATT). Mental Health Services management have contacted the ANMF regarding establishing a specialist panel meeting. The ANMF is in the process of confirming a date for this and will liaise further with the ANMF CATT Work Representatives.

Ward 40/4B

On 15 January 2021, the ANMF was advised by Tasmanian Health Service (THS) management that a business case is to be progressed requesting approval for additional midwifery staff to provide seven midwives on each night shift for a fixed term period. This was in response to the ANMF members request at the Step 2 Specialist Panel meeting for additional staffing while the process for a Birth Rate Plus assessment was being worked through. The ANMF will be scheduling a meeting with members to discuss this development, meeting time will be confirmed shortly.

Holman Clinic

The ANMF will be meeting with members on Monday 8 February 2021 to discuss the current workload grievance and proposal for the clinical support model pilot.

Wards John L Grove and 3R

The ANMF met with 3R and JLG members towards the end of 2020. At this meeting the proposed 2020 Benchmarking was discussed, in particular the proposal to create a hospital wide Rehabilitation Coordinator role. Members endorsed the proposed benchmarking and proposal to develop a Coordinator role, subject to the direct care hours remaining as documented against each ward establishment, with a working group being established to develop the new role. The ANMF clarify that the role will be considered at Grade 6 not Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) as articulated at the members meeting. The ANMF will be meeting with THS management on 17 February to discuss the proposal further and will provided a report back to members via a member meeting following this.
