Public Sector Updates – South

Royal Hobart Hospital

Department of Critical Care Medicine (DCCM/ICU)

The ANMF met with Tasmanian Health Service (THS) Management on Friday 29 January to discuss the ongoing dispute over staff re-deployments associated with indefinite unavailability for night shifts. Whilst no agreement was reached on this matter the conversation served to clarify each party’s respective position and has provided an opportunity for the ANMF and its members to consider the problem on its merits, and forward any prospective solutions to THS for consideration. ANMF will continue to advocate for its members and their workplace rights.

Safe Staffing Organising Committee

The ANMF received from THS an email response to the letter sent 12 January requesting current Benchmarking and Establishment data for a range of sites within the RHH. THS have requested that this provision of information be added to the agenda for the next Safe Staffing Organising Committee meeting to be held 4 February. ANMF have agreed and will use this opportunity to present its case on behalf of members for greater NHpPD Benchmarking transparency.

Surgical Specialties and Orthopaedics (Ward K9E)

The ANMF received a request from THS Management for an extension of time to respond to the Step One Grievance Letter lodged 19 January 2021. As a result, a full response is now expected by COB 11 February 2021.

Maternity Services

The ANMF met with THS Management on Monday 1 February to discuss concerns recently raised by members via email. These conversations were productive and ANMF are satisfied that all outstanding issues are being urgently addressed. A member meeting is being finalised and the ANMF will relay to all members the outcomes of these discussions. A date and time of the meeting is to be advised via a flyer soon.

Updates correct as at 4 February 2021.
