This year’s conference
The theme for this year’s conference is Reshaping the ‘Care’ in Aged Care. Held in Hobart, this will be a fantastic day of learning for Nurses and Care Workers. The prominent conference is a wonderful opportunity for industry leaders and experts in aged care to share their knowledge with those involved in the provision of healthcare to the elderly. We have a number of keynote speakers in the field of aged care attending to discuss their field of excellence through case studies and research. Keynote Speakers
Sarah Bolt,
Anti-Discrimination Commissioner Tas
Sarah’s career is marked by change and diversity. In 2005 Sarah was appointed to the position of Anti-Discrimination Commissioner Tasmania. In 2011, she was appointed as the Police Ombudsman (South Australia), before being re-appointed to the role of Anti-Discrimination Commissioner Tasmania in 2017. Sarah will be speaking on the topic of discrimination at the Aged Care Conference and why it continues to occur, particularly towards the vulnerable.
Dr Drew Dwyer,
Principal Consultant in Gerontology
Dr Drew Dwyer has earned a reputation for being one of the most dynamic and passionate consultants in learning and development for the aged and community care sectors. He has over 35 years of experience as a professional nurse, nurse leader, and educator, and is currently the Principal Consultant in Gerontology, Disabilities and Community Services for the Frontline Care Solutions group. He is also a fellow of the Australian College of Nursing and a Clinical fellow of the JBI. Dr Drew holds an Adjunct Associate Professor position at the University of Queensland School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work (UQSoNMSW).
Sarah Holland-Batt
Poet, critic, and academic
Associate Professor Sarah Holland-Batt is an award-winning poet, editor, and critic. Following her own harrowing experience dealing with aged care, in 2019 she was a witness at the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety. She is an advocate for aged care reform to ensure dignity for all elder Australians and is a welcome addition to the conference lineup.
