EA Updates
We are frequently updating information regarding enterprise agreements from private and aged care sites across Tasmania so our members can stay informed.
Calvary Health Care Tasmania
- Statewide: The ANMF has received a final draft Enterprise Agreement from the employer which has been scrutinised by the ANMF Industrial team. The final draft was to be put out to vote to Calvary staff but the ANMF has concerns over workload issues and loss of conditions and have asked for an extension to discuss with members. A meeting is scheduled with the employer on Friday 5 March 2021, where the concerns of the membership will be discussed.
- North – St Vincent’s and St Luke’s: The ANMF met with members at Calvary St Vincent’s and Calvary St Luke’s to discuss the Enterprise Agreement draft document. More member meetings in the first week of March are to follow.
- South – Lenah Valley and St John’s: ANMF has planned regular meetings with members at St John’s and Calvary. Members have raised concerns about some part of the proposed Enterprise Agreement.
Healthscope
- The ANMF has met Healthscope Human Resource Management outside of the scheduled Enterprise Agreement negotiations and has secured a workload commitment from them. The ANMF have continued voicing a number of concerns held by members including:
- Saturday theatre lists with no planning to accommodate increased workload on the wards.
- Continual loss of nurses to the Royal Hobart Hospital due to excessive workloads and for better conditions.
- Broader recruitment and retention issues leading to strain on the already stressed system.
- Ongoing access to roster issues.
- Enterprise Agreement Offer
The Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation Tasmanian Branch (ANMF) attended a bargaining meeting with your employer on Wednesday 3 March 2021, the employer has made the following offer. You can read the full offer here. - Healthscope Protected Action Ballot
The ANMF have applied for a second Protected Action Ballot (PAB) to encourage Healthscope to seriously listen to concerns raised by nurses and midwives. A PAB will ‘get up’ provided at least 50% of those on the list of members/employees vote. Unfortunately, the last vote (while an overwhelming number clearly supported taking Industrial Action) was only completed by 45% of those on the list.If you are working at Healthscope (even on a casual basis) please ensure you are listed as working at Healthscope on our database. You can do this by emailing our membership officer here or by editing your details via our secure online portal here.
Southern Cross Care Tasmania
Southern Cross Care Tasmania continues to delay matters and has essentially dismissed your Log of Claims, whilst suddenly announcing they have claims of their own to make at the next meeting. We remain without a wage offer, and members wages continue to fall further behind those of like-employers. Members need to consider an interim wage request or a Protected Action Ballot which would allow them to take industrial action, to stand up and encourage management to acknowledge your hard work and dedication by providing a reasonable wage offer. We continue to meet with members of Southern Cross Care Tasmania both on and off-site. The ANMF will be circulating a survey to members, please look out for the survey via email and/or text message, and complete it as soon as you are able.
One Care
The ANMF has received a response from One Care regarding the Enterprise Agreement. Unfortunately, the employer has indicated they are not prepared to implement a preceptor allowance to reward members for supervising and supporting students of nursing.
Corumbene
The Non-Nursing Enterprise Agreement has been delayed by Fair Work as some of the proposed conditions fall below the safety net and so the Agreement does not meet the Better Off Overall Test. In order to be corrected, the employer will be required to provide undertakings.
South Eastern Community Care
Some progress has been made with the draft Agreement noting it will be put to vote very soon. This Agreement will contain an option for staff to take an alternative Public Holiday date instead of 26 January. The new manager position description is being circulated for staff to have their say, we encourage members to consider providing feedback on this document/role.
Menarock – The Gardens
The ANMF will meet with the People and Culture manager of Menarock on 4 March 2021, to discuss a way forward for the Enterprise Agreement and the wage differential of members at The Gardens. The ANMF will provide communication to members following this meeting.
Christian Homes
Given that the Nurses Agreement had effectively reached the state of being ready to go out to ballot, the ANMF are contesting the employers desire to combine Agreements.
Melaleuca
As members are aware the Ballot for the proposed Enterprise Agreement is currently underway and will close on 16 March 2021.
Medea Park
The Enterprise Agreement voting process concluded on 3 March, 2021. The ANMF will advise members as to the outcome of the ballot once known.
Toosey
The Ballot for the Enterprise Agreement commenced on 1 March 2021 and closes on 5 March 2021, if you have not voted please do so as soon as you are able.
Updates correct as at 4 March 2021.
