Launceston General Hospital (LGH)

Emergency Department (ED)

On Friday 27 August the ANMF met with LGH ED Workplace Representatives to discuss interim and long-term strategies to address the ongoing workload concerns, while the additional 21.3 full time equivalents (FTE) is being recruited. The ANMF will now consider further the strategies discussed regarding ramping and triage assist, recruitment and retention, short staffing and failures regarding the escalation policy. The third report back meeting in relation to the 21.3 FTE is scheduled for Monday 6 September. The ANMF will discuss member concerns at this meeting and a member update will follow.

Short Stay Surgical Unit (SSSU)

The ANMF met with Tasmanian Health Service (THS) management on Monday 23 August 2021. At the meeting the ANMF was present with a Nursing Hours per Patient Day (NHpPD) Benchmark for the SSSU. The SSSU NHpPD calculations include an increase in nursing hours in line with a Change Proposal, received by the ANMF from THS on 17 August, regarding SSSU moving to a 24 hour per day, 7 days a week model. Operating Room Suite (ORS)

The ANMF met with THS management on Monday 16 August to discuss recommendations that would see the resolution of the ORS Step 2 Grievance raised back on 25 May 2021. The ANMF and THS were able to agree in principle to recommendations that, if supported by members, could see the resolution of the Step 2 Grievance.
