Launceston General Hospital (LGH)

Launceston General Hospital (LGH) Safe Staffing Committee (SSC) Update

On Thursday 9 December 2021 the ANMF attended the LGH SSC meeting. The ANMF was the only union present representing the LGH nursing profession industrially and professionally. Unfortunately, due to the low attendees the meeting did not have a quorum. However, the ANMF received and provided a report on the following matters on behalf of members. Crisis Assessment and Treatment Team (CATT)

On Wednesday 17 November 2021 the ANMF met with members of CATT North. As a result of concerns raised, the ANMF has now written to Mental Health Services (MHS) management regarding these concerns. Please click here to read more.

LGH Emergency Department (ED)

The ANMF met with the Tasmanian Health Service (THS) on Monday 13 December 2021 as a part of the ongoing process overseen by the Tasmanian Industrial Commission (TIC) in relation to bed block and workloads at the LGH ED. Operating Room Suite (ORS)

The ANMF has provided correspondence to LGH management regarding the recommendations agreed to, via the resolution of the Step 2 grievance process. Further to this, the ANMF included a request to provide additions to the report currently being provided to the LGH Safe Staffing Committee (SSC) meeting on ORS activity. The ANMF is seeking the report to include the capture of worked verses planned theatres, as well as staffing for planned theatres and actual staffing provided for worked theatres.
