Public Sector Updates – South

Royal Hobart Hospital

The ANMF wishes to thank all members across the Tasmanian Health Service (THS) and Statewide Mental Health Services (SMHS) South for their ongoing dedication and efforts during the COVID-19 crisis. Additionally, we wish to reassure everyone that every effort is being made at various levels of management and in multiple forums to advocate on members’ behalf regarding clinical/professional/industrial concerns if and when they come to light. To this end, members are encouraged to continue submitting their experiences/observations/concerns via an email to our Member Support Team at membersupport@anmftas.org.au so that ongoing work can continue to be prioritised and tailored accurately according to areas of the greatest need. We thank you in advance for your ongoing assistance.

Emergency Department (ED)

The ANMF continues to monitor the situation with the RHH Emergency Department via ongoing contact with Workplace Representatives, with some progress being made on several issues at the highest levels of hospital management. This includes the prospect of an additional 15-minute break for rest and hydration (second to ongoing PPE requirements) as well as a potential ‘COVID-19 allowance’ in recognition of clinical risk factors associated with the COVID-19 response and inherent workloads and staffing difficulties. Ongoing feedback is welcomed from all members via Workplace Representatives or directly to our Member Support Team at membersupport@anmftas.org.au. Members will be kept up to date of any significant developments via emails.

Repatriation Centre

The ANMF has written to THS management regarding aspects of COVID-19 support at the Repatriation Centre with specific emphasis on ongoing fit-testing and COVID-19 testing being made available onsite to negate difficulties associated with having to attend the main body of the hospital. These letters have been sent via an email on Monday 10 January 2022 for members consideration – any ongoing feedback is welcomed via our Member Support Team at membersupport@anmftas.org.au in the first instance.

Updates correct as at 20 January 2022.
