Emergency Department (ED)
The ANMF attended the Tasmanian Industrial Commission (TIC) on Monday 31 January 2022 for a report back regarding previously raised workload concerns and pressures within the LGH Emergency Department (ED), both prior to and with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The ANMF will be conducting both a member survey and report back meeting to take further direction, meeting flyers to be sent out at a later date. Click here to read more.
Temperature controls
The ANMF, following contact from multiple members, has raised concerns regarding the current temperatures on the wards and units within the LGH. Members have reported that on some wards and units the current heat is causing fatigue and making them feel unwell. It has also been reported that some areas are turning the fans off on cooling systems thereby inactivating the system. The ANMF is extremely concerned regarding this practice given members are wearing masks and, in some circumstances, full PPE. The ANMF has raised these concerns with upper Tasmanian Health Service (THS) management and on Tuesday 1 February 2022 at the daily COVID-19 meetings with the Department of Health. We encourage any members with concerns regarding ward temperatures to, in the first instance, raise them with your manager and if that does not resolve the concerns and the issue is persisting, please contact our Member Support Team via email at MemberSupport@anmftas.org.au.
Updates correct as at 3 February 2022.
