Public Sector Updates – South
Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH)
Repatriation Centre
The ANMF was pleased to receive reports from Tasmanian Health Service (THS) management that a memo had been circulated informing staff of on-site Fit Testing facilities to be made available from Monday 24 – Friday 28 January 2022 inclusive. The ANMF hopes that all members interested in making use of such facilities (particularly those who made contact directly with the union on this matter) had the opportunity to engage in this service during this time.
Tasmanian Industrial Commission (TIC)
On Monday 31 January 2022, the ANMF attended the Tasmanian Industrial Commission (TIC) in an effort to represent the entire Tasmanian Health Service (THS) regarding ongoing workload and staffing difficulties being experienced since the reopening of state borders on 15 December 2021. As a result, the THS have committed to providing the ANMF with contemporary, detailed data as to sick leave, overtime, double shifts, FTE worked etc. for review and analysis and to hopefully clarify the current situation(s) within the broader health service. The ANMF will continue to seek to progress this most urgent work in the hope that it lends itself to the perceived need for a COVID-19 allowance and/or additional recruitment and retention incentives.
Thank You Members
The ANMF wishes to thank all members across the Tasmanian Health Service (THS) and the Statewide Mental Health Services (SMHS) South for their ongoing dedication and efforts during the current COVID-19 crisis. Additionally, we wish to reassure everyone that every effort is being made at various levels of management and in multiple forums to advocate on members’ behalf regarding clinical/professional/industrial concerns if and when they come to light. To this end, members are encouraged to continue submitting their experiences/observations/concerns via our Member Support Team via email at membersupport@anmftas.org.au so that ongoing work can continue to be prioritised and tailored accurately according to areas of the greatest need. We thank you in advance for your ongoing assistance.
Updates correct as at 3 February 2022.
