Public Sector Updates – North

Launceston General Hospital (LGH)

Operating Room Suite (ORS)

The ANMF has received multiple contacts from members in the LGH ORS. Members have raised concerns with skill mix, unreasonable overtime, understaffing and running the ORS beyond the posted schedule. The ANMF has booked a member meeting for Thursday 7 April 2022. In the interim, we have written to the Chair of the LGH Safe Staffing Committee requesting reports on ORS activity, as was agreed as a result of the 2021 grievance. A further update will be provided to members at the 7 April meeting.

Emergency Department (ED)

On Monday 28 March 2022, the ANMF met with LGH ED members to discuss progress on the solutions gained out of the 2021 Tasmanian Industrial Commission (TIC) process. Further update to follow via an email shortly.

Holman Clinic

The ANMF has been in consultation with Tasmanian Health Service (THS) management regarding solutions achieved out the 2020-2021 TIC grievance process. Predominantly the ANMF has been looking to secure the Floor Support position in a permanent capacity. At the time of print, further discussions were in motion, and we anticipate an email update to members shortly.

Updates correct as at 30 March 2022.
