The Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (ANMF) Tasmanian Branch will be meeting with members at the North West Regional Hospital to present the Premier’s updated offer, which includes a retention payment of $2000. This mass member meeting will take place at the scheduled time of 1:45pm today at the time scheduled for previous strike action. It will be for 15 minutes only at the North West Regional Hospital.

“Following well attended industrial action across the State, the Premier, who had previously offered a suite of measures to address members concerns, has updated this to include a one off $2000 bonus to all members, which will be presented and discussed with members today,” said Emily Shepherd, ANMF Tasmanian Branch Secretary.

“The one-off bonus will replace the existing COVID-19 allowance agreement if members accept the offer, noting $2000 is higher than any payments already calculated under the agreement. However, the ANMF will be seeking all members views on this prior to accepting the offer, which also includes the previous offer of clinical coaches, additional permanent Transition to Practice positions, workforce modelling and commencement of Enterprise Agreement negotiations prior to November 2022.”

Members will now be consulted statewide to seek their views on the overall offer, following which the ANMF will provide a formal response to Government.

Ms Shepherd said the new bonus offer included all members including those in the North West who have previously not received any payment under the current COVID-19 allowance and would mean immediate payment of $2000 to members who otherwise may have reached $2000 in allowances over a number of COVID-19 level 3 escalations, but there would have been many who did not.
