Public Sector Updates – North

Launceston General Hospital (LGH)

Ward 5B

The ANMF is in receipt of a response from Tasmanian Health Service (THS) management regarding mitigating strategies for workloads on Ward 5B. Work is in progress for additional clinical coach Full Time Equivalent (FTE), and additional support for patient specials. The THS is considering how further supports can be provided via the surgical support officer position and extra FTE. A newsflash with the full update will follow soon.

Holman Clinic

The ANMF is scheduled to meet with Holman Clinic members on Tuesday 15 November 2022. The meeting will discuss the proposed nursing benchmark for Holman Clinic for 2022, the floor support role and how this position is working since implementation, and, if the workload grievance that remains outstanding and in abeyance at the Tasmanian Industrial Commission, can be resolved.

North Eastern Soldiers Memorial Hospital

On Friday 4 November 2022, the ANMF received a response from Tasmanian Health Service (THS) North human resources in regard to the Step 2 Workload Grievance raised on behalf of members at North Eastern Soldiers Memorial Hospital (NESMH). The THS have linked the workload grievance resolution to the District HiTS model.  They will not consider the solution suggested by the ANMF, on behalf of members, for additional Full Time Equivalent (FTE) via a supernumerary Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) and additional clinical support via onsite Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) FTE. They have asked for a secondary meeting outside of the industrial process for resolving these matters. The ANMF is currently drafting a response to this and is giving serious consideration to elevating this matter to a Step 3 Grievance in the Tasmanian Industrial Commission. Further updates to follow.
