Public Sector Updates – North

Launceston General Hospital (LGH)

Operating Room Suite

On Tuesday 29 November 2022, the ANMF attended the Launceston General Hospital Operating Room Suite annual benchmarking meeting. At the meeting the Tasmanian Health Service (THS) presented data to establish a benchmarking based on operating and average of 7 theatres for 2022/23, up from 6.5 theatres in the previous benchmark. The ANMF will be meeting with members on Thursday 8 December 2022 to discuss the proposed new benchmark. Further updates to follow.

North Eastern Soldiers Memorial Hospital

On Thursday 24 November 2022, the ANMF met with Primary Health North management for the second Step 2 Specialist panel meeting for the North Eastern Soldiers Memorial Hospital (NESMH) grievance. Unfortunately, at the meeting there was not a resolution of the workload concerns via the solutions outlined by the ANMF. The Tasmanian Health Service (THS) referred the matter to the Nursing and Midwifery Workload Management Steering Committee (NMWMSC). This was against advice from the ANMF, as grievance matters must be resolved via the specialist panel process. The NMWMSC have now referred the matter back for resolution via the specialist panel. The ANMF is currently in the process of writing to the THS, seeking a commitment to the solutions. If this cannot be secured the ANMF will refer the matter to the Tasmanian Industrial Commission. Further updates to follow.

Updates correct as at 7 December 2022.
