The ANMF Tasmanian and Victorian branches have been notified by The Australian Red Cross Lifeblood that the consultation with grade 3 nurses across 5 sites in Victoria and Tasmania will be commencing at the end of February 2023, with a de-identified copy of the report expected to be available to the ANMF by early March 2023. If members have any questions around this process, please contact Southern Organiser, Jane Pond via email at Jane.Pond@anmftas.org.au.

North

Calvary Health Care Tasmania

The ANMF met with management of Calvary (director of clinical services and general manager) in December 2022. Calvary have not yet recognised the workload issues that exist on St John’s ward, St James’ ward and Theatre despite multiple letters from the ANMF to senior management highlighting these concerns. The ANMF will continue to collect workload data forms to substantiate workload concerns from members. We urge members to continue to raise concerns with their Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) and senior management.

Calvary Community Nursing

Members continued to raise concerns that they have not been offered a fit testing for N95 masks as their colleagues in Calvary hospitals have. The ANMF wrote to the general manager stating it was a breach of Work Safe Tasmania and asked that all staff be afforded the same protection of mask fitting. Happily, members now report mask fitting has commenced at Calvary Community Nursing.

North West

Healthe Care North West Private Hospital – Huon Ward

Members will be kept up to date with a newsflash sent via email, and a meeting to determine the next steps will be arranged, keep an eye out for the invite in your inbox.

The ANMF has some extremely dedicated Workplace Representatives (Reps), and we thank them for their commitment to improving their workplace. The ANMF would like more workplace reps to assist with ensuring members voices are clearly heard at the negotiating table. If you would like further information on becoming a workplace rep, please contact Southern Organiser, Jane Pond via email at Jane.Pond@anmftas.org.au.

Calvary Health Care Tasmania St John’s Hospital

Unfortunately the ANMF has no members listed as workplace representatives (reps) at St John’s Hospital. The ANMF encourages members to nominate for this important role as it is assists with ensuring members voices are heard and their colleagues represented alongside the ANMF at the negotiating table. Please contact Southern Organiser, Jane Pond via email at Jane.Pond@anmftas.org.au for further information if you are interested in becoming a workplace rep.
