Emergency Department

Over the Christmas and New Year period, the ANMF was contacted regarding short staffing and overcrowding in the Emergency Department. The ANMF is currently reviewing the status of the actions to come out of the 2022 Tasmanian Industrial Commissions (TIC) hearing. Understanding that the business case for a new Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) position, in lieu of the Nurse Navigator role, is yet to be submitted, the ANMF will seek a meeting with members shortly to discuss a plan to have the matter relisted for report back before the TIC. Further updates to follow.

John L Grove Rehabilitation Unit

On Tuesday 20 December 2022, the ANMF met with members at the John L Grove Rehabilitation Unit (JLGRU). Members have detailed multiple concerns relating to workloads, staffing, recruitment, and retention. Click here to view the full update.

Specialist Clinics

Prior to Christmas the ANMF detailed a list of concerns with Tasmanian Health Service (THS) management regarding workload in the Specialist Clinic. Click here to view the full update. Included in this correspondence was a request for the working group, established to develop a nursing workload tool, to recommence by the end of January 2023. The THS have agreed to this request. The ANMF will provide further updates to members once the first meeting date has been confirmed.

Ward 3D

The ANMF met with members on Thursday 20 December 2022, to allow members to raise any workload concerns. The ANMF has written to Tasmanian Health Service (THS) management raising a Step 1 Workload Grievance. A response to this grievance is still pending. Further updates to follow.

Updates correct as at 12 January 2023.
