Staff profile: Jenna Bowling, ANMF Southern Organiser

I am a Registered Nurse (RN), with a wide range of clinical nursing experience. I became an RN in 2011 have been an ANMF Organiser since 2018.

In 2017 I was nominated and elected as an ANMF Workplace Representative, which I held for a short time before joining ANMF Tasmania Branch Council in the same year.

My interest in joining the ANMF as an Organiser started in the first year my nursing career, where I was supported by an enthusiastic ANMF Workplace Representative, which led to involvement in Enterprise Bargaining, and later in a grievance matter.

I could see the difference ANMF made to outcomes and the need for their support and advice throughout. I cared deeply about the nurses I worked with and was grateful that the ANMF was able to assist in resolving our issues.

Prior to joining the ANMF as an Organiser, I intentionally pursed a wide rage of clinical experiences in Community Nursing, Palliative Care, Red Cross Blood Service, Aged Care, Acute Care, Rehabilitation, and Correctional Primary Health.

Through my seven years as a clinical nurse, I equipped myself with experiences and knowledge that I can now draw from and that help me to understand the complexity of the issues faced by nurses, midwives, and carers. I believe these experiences help me to empathise and operate effectively with ANMF members and their issues.

I am particularly interested in Mental Health, Community Health Nursing a Public Health related issues. I have held the Mental Health portfolio for the ANMF in Southern Tasmania and have worked closely with Mental Health members over the past few years to achieve many great outcomes.

I am optimistic about continuing to make improvements, with the help and support of ANMF members, in 2023!
