Launceston General Hospital (LGH)

Heat Issues

The ANMF has received numerous reports from members at the Launceston General Hospital (LGH) regarding the ongoing heat issue on certain wards and units. On Monday 20 February 2023, the ANMF sent correspondence to the Chief Executive at hospitals in the North/North West and requested a status update on the mitigation strategies being considered and or implemented. Further updates will follow on receipt of a response.

Ward 6D

On Tuesday 14 February 2023, the ANMF met Tasmanian Health Service (THS) North management to complete the re-benchmarking process for Ward 6D. Click here to view the latest update.

Emergency Department (ED)

On Tuesday 7 February 2023, the ANMF met with LGH Emergency Department (ED) members to discuss ongoing workloads in the LGH ED. The ANMF has subsequently discussed member concerns with THS management. The ANMF can confirm that the minute supporting the Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) role, that was agreed to in lieu of the nurse navigator, has been approved. Vacant Full Time Equivalent (FTE) is sitting at minus 5.27. The ANMF is in the process of writing to THS North management regarding strategies to resolve bed block and will provide a report back to members on this once a response is received. A full newsflash update regarding the ongoing ED Tasmanian Industrial Commission (TIC) matter will follow shortly.

Ward 3D

On Wednesday 1 February 2023, the ANMF met with Ward 3D members to provide a report back on the THS response to the ANMF Step 1 Grievance raised prior to Christmas. Click here to view the latest update.
