Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH)

K10 East (General Medical)

The ANMF will conduct a member meeting in the RHH General Medical Unit K10 East between 1400-1430hrs on Thursday 23 February 2023. All members as well as new and prospective members are welcome to attend for general discussion regarding current nursing issues/considerations.

Neurosurgical Unit K8 West

On Tuesday 14 February 2023, the ANMF attended a benchmarking meeting in presence of relevant Tasmanian Health Service (THS) stakeholders for RHH K8 West Neurosurgical Unit. The suggested outcome of this process is for staffing to remain unaltered at a Full Time Equivalent (FTE) of 43.62 (consistent with outcomes of the 2021 benchmarking process). An ANMF member meeting is set to follow for broader discussion regarding these outcomes with date, time and venue to be confirmed via a separate newsflash update soon.

COVID@Home

On Tuesday 21 February 2023, the ANMF conducted a member meeting with the COVID@Home team to discuss the Change Proposal for their relocation to Cambridge Park, tentatively scheduled for the end of March 2023. Members are thanked for their contributions which will be forwarded to relevant managers for consideration. Bruny Island Community Health Centre (BICHC)

The ANMF met with members via Teams on Wednesday 15 February 2023. Members were asked to gather data and evidence that supports maintaining the role of the second on-call nurse at BICHC. The ANMF contacted the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) who will schedule a date soon for a meeting with the ANMF and members to set out some terms of reference for further THS data gathering and consultation.

Repatriation Hospital – P3

The RHH Executive Director of Nursing (EDON) failed to attend a meeting with 20 members who turned up to discuss issues on the ward. The ANMF then met with some quite rightly disgruntled members to discuss the next step in the grievance process. Members were firm in wanting a further escalation in the process. The following morning, Wednesday 1 February 2023, the ANMF met with THS management again, and once again there was no urgency of action, no comprehensive plan, and no interim measures to offer. The ANMF escalated the grievance to Step 2. This meeting will take place on 27 February 2023 at 1130hrs. The RHH EDON has promised to visit the ward and meet staff, the ANMF will follow up with a member meeting to discuss.
