Launceston General Hospital

Acute Medical Unit (AMU)

The ANMF met with AMU members on Thursday 17 August 2023 to discuss current workload and skill mix issues within the unit. As a result, the ANMF has raised a Step 1 Grievance with Tasmanian Health Service (THS) management on behalf of members. A response to the grievance is required by Wednesday 30 August 2023. John L Grove Rehabilitation Unit (JLGRU)

The ANMF met with JLGRU members on Wednesday 23 August 2023 to discuss workload concerns raised by members over the recent weeks. Further updates following this meeting will be provided via a newsflash update.

Emergency Department (ED)

The ANMF is in the process of scheduling a meeting with ED members to discuss the THS response to the current Step 1 Grievance. The ANMF will be seeking feedback specifically on support for skill mix, bed block and general safe staffing levels. Members will be notified once a meeting time is confirmed.

Wards 4O/4B

The ANMF is scheduled to meet with wards 4O/4B members on Thursday 31 August 2023. At this stage, the ANMF is still working on the location of the meeting and will notify members as soon as possible, noting that THS has refused for the traditional meeting space within wards 4O/4B to be used citing child safeguarding rules. The meeting will be to discuss the long-standing workload grievance and to understand if workloads have been mitigated. Further updates following this meeting will be provided via a newsflash update.

Ward 3D

The ANMF is meeting with members on ward 3D on Wednesday 30 August 2023. The meeting will be to discuss the implementation of the Clinical Coach and change proposal by THS to increase ward 3D beds. Further updates following this meeting will be provided via a newsflash update.
