Mersey Community Hospital (MCH)

Theatre and Day Surgery Unit

The ANMF, on behalf of members, has attended every meeting of the JICC for Theatre and Day Surgery Unit redevelopment. Throughout this time the ANMF has advocated for members industrial, professional rights and workloads. The ANMF has also sought member feedback on the proposed management structure. On Tuesday 5 September 2023, the Director of Nursing (DoN) advised that the business case submitted to increase the management structure has been approved. Please see the latest update here.

Close Observation Unit (COU) – Step 1 Grievance Response

The ANMF COU members endorsed the ANMF to raise a Nursing Hours per Patient Day (NHpPD) Step 1 Grievance on their behalf. The ANMF is pleased to announce that a formal response and commitments from the Tasmanian Health Service (THS) management, that address member concerns, was received on Tuesday 5 September 2023. Medical Day Procedure Unit – Oncology

After a meeting on Friday 11 August 2023, the Medical Day Procedure-Oncology Unit members endorsed the ANMF to raise a (NHpPD) Step 1 Grievance in August 2023. The ANMF is pleased to announce that a formal response and commitments from THS management, that address member concerns, was received on Tuesday 5 September 2023. Please see the latest update here.

North West Regional Hospital (NWRH)

Medical Ward, Acute Medical Unit (AMU) and Medical C (Med C)

The ANMF met with members on Wednesday 23 August 2023, to discuss workload concerns on the Medical Ward, AMU and Med C. Members concerns are essentially the same as those previously raised both at Step 2 meetings and in subsequent correspondence and meetings dating back to October 2022. ANMF members endorsed the ANMF to notify the THS in writing of continuing workload concerns and request a written response, as previous meetings of the Step 2 Grievance Specialist Panel outcomes continued to be delayed. Should a timeframe for implementation of solutions that resolve the workload and skill mix concerns of members not be forthcoming, members unanimously endorsed the ANMF to raise the matter to a ‘Step 3’, in accordance with Appendix C of the Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Interim Agreement 2013. Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

The ANMF met with ICU members on Friday 1 September 2023, to discuss professional and industrial concerns. ICU members raised a number of workload concerns and subsequently endorsed the ANMF to formally raise those concerns with THS management. Formal notification is in process, members will be kept informed via a newsflash communication.
