Following stop work action across the State at Calvary St Vincent’s Hospital and Calvary Lenah Valley Hospital, members of the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation Tasmanian Branch, (ANMF) will again take stop work industrial action today in pursuit of the workload model that will ensure safe staffing and ensure patient care.

ANMF members have been in protracted bargaining with Calvary Health Care for months with key issues unresolved including the workload model and a wages proposal that will address cost of living increases.

‘Our members at Calvary sites across the state are being completely reasonable in asking for a workload model that is transparent and will ensure their safety and that of their patients’ said ANMF Tasmanian Branch Secretary, Emily Shepherd.

Despite a further negotiating meeting held over 2 weeks ago, the ANMF were only provided an updated workload model yesterday afternoon, which the ANMF will take to members for consideration.

‘We welcome the updated workload from Calvary but remain concerned that it includes 12% of non-nursing hours in the workload model. Nurses and midwives, along with their medical staff should be the only people who are delivering clinical care in a clinical environment.’

The ANMF remain committed to achieving a positive outcome for members and members of the Tasmanian community who are accessing healthcare at Calvary Health Care.
