Public Sector Updates – North West

North West Regional Hospital (NWRH)

Medical Ward, Acute Medical Unit, Med C Benchmarking and Step 2 Grievance

The ANMF has raised workload concerns with Tasmanian Health Service (THS) management on behalf of members. A member meeting will be held in this week to discuss progress of the grievance and benchmarking. Keep an eye out for updates in your email inbox.

Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

The ANMF, along with ICU nurse members were presented with the 2022-2023 Nursing Hours per Patient Day (NHpPD) benchmarking data on Tuesday 19 September 2023. ANMF members have endorsed the ICU benchmarking via a survey. Formal notification is in process.

Surgical Ward

The ANMF has reviewed the 2023 Surgical Ward benchmarking data and have found a discrepancy. Once the data is corrected, the ANMF will meet with members to discuss the benchmarking and seek endorsement.

Mersey Community Hospital (MCH)

Medical Ward Benchmarking

The ANMF will meet with MCH Medical Ward members on Wednesday 22nd November 2023 at 1400hrs to discuss the benchmarking and seek member feedback as the survey has now closed without a definite result.

Emergency Department (ED)

The ANMF has received formal correspondence from THS management that shows that the addition of the category 8 patients to the benchmarking would allow an extra 0.1 Full Time Equivalent (FTE) (an 8 hour shift). The nursing director of operations has offered to submit a request for the hours in addition to the benchmarked FTE.

The ANMF will seek further direction from members and conduct a vote to endorse the 2022-2023 benchmarking data via a survey that will close Monday 20 November 2023. Keep an eye on your inbox for details on how to have your say.

Updates correct as at 15 November 2023.
