Public Sector Updates – North West

Promotion of Membership Discounts and Professional Development in North West Hospitals

ANMF Representatives recently visited North West Hospitals, distributing flyers to introduce ANMF membership discounts to new graduates starting this year. Welcome packs were also delivered to these sites, emphasising the benefits of ANMF membership, including Professional Indemnity Insurance (PII), industrial advice, representation, and expertise in negotiating better wages, conditions, and workloads. Membership also grants access to discounted Professional Development sessions and nationwide deals through the Member Benefits program. Flyers seeking feedback on desired training from the HERC team have been circulated. The first sessions are held in Launceston and Hobart in February focusing on venous access and cannulation, contributing to CPD hours. Register for a CPD Workshop today.

North West Renal Unit Step 2 Grievance

The ANMF met with members from the North West Renal Unit in November 2023 to seek feedback and to discuss next steps regarding the Step 2 Grievance. The ANMF, on behalf of members, has requested the Step 2 Specialist Panel be reconvened. View the latest update. 

Mersey Community Hospital (MCH) Close Observation Unit (COU) Step 1 Grievance

In August 2023, the ANMF, on behalf of COU members, raised a Step 1 Workload Grievance. The Tasmanian Health Service (THS) has since advised that the temporary increase in rostered hours of the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) position, with a review of the position and service planning, is in progress.

North West Regional Hospital (NWRH) Medical Ward, Acute Medical Unit (AMU), Med C Benchmarking and Step 2 Grievance

The ANMF met with medical ward members to discuss progress of outcomes for the previously raised workload concerns. ANMF medical ward members continue to raise skill mix, rostering, and other workload concerns. The ANMF, on behalf of members, has requested the Step 2 Specialist Panel be reconvened.
