Staff profile: Sharon Rice, Member Support Officer

During her Enrolled Nursing training Sharon discovered the power of compassion and the impact it could have on those in need. This early experience laid the foundation for her future endeavours in the field of healthcare.

Driven by a passion to expand her knowledge and skills, Sharon completed her Bachelor of Nursing with University of Tasmania. This pivotal decision opened doors to a world of opportunities and paved the way for her professional growth.

Sharon sought to further her education and through the completion of a Bachelor of Nursing with Professional Honours in Community. This program equipped her with the specialised knowledge and skills needed to address the unique challenges faced by communities in healthcare.

At Monash University Sharon pursued a Graduate Diploma in Psychology. This interdisciplinary approach enriched her understanding of patient care whilst also providing valuable insights into the psychological aspects of health and well-being.

Recognising the importance of staying abreast of advancements in healthcare delivery, Sharon delved into the realm of clinical redesign with a Graduate Certificate in Clinical Redesign from UTAS. This program empowered her to identify inefficiencies in healthcare systems and implement innovative solutions to enhance patient outcomes.

In alignment with her dedication to preventive healthcare, Sharon undertook training to become an Authorised Nurse Immuniser. This role allows her to play a pivotal role in protecting individuals and communities against vaccine-preventable diseases, contributing to the promotion of public health and well-being.

Sharon has had the privilege of working across diverse settings, including acute care, aged care, primary healthcare, and general practice nursing. Each experience has broadened her perspective and reinforced her commitment to holistic patient care.

Driven by a thirst for knowledge, Sharon is passionate about research and ongoing education. She believes that staying curious and continuously seeking to expand her understanding are essential elements of professional growth in nursing.
