Nursing Staff Advocacy for Ambulance Tasmania Offload Protocol

The ANMF has intensified efforts at the Launceston General Hospital (LGH) to ensure proper consultation regarding the Ambulance Tasmania (AT) 60-minute offload protocol. Multiple appearances before the Industrial Commission underscore the commitment to ensuring appropriate nursing staffing levels across all wards amidst access and flow demands. Stay tuned for updates.

The ANMF Considers Grievance at LGH Emergency Department (ED)

Concerns escalate at the LGH Emergency Department (ED) as the ANMF contemplates filing a Step 1 Grievance. The move responds to management’s decision to expand ED capacity due to the AT offload protocol without commensurate increase in nursing staff. The ANMF emphasises the critical need for staffing to meet rising demand while ensuring staff and patient safety.

The ANMF Engages with North Eastern Soldiers Memorial Hospital and St Helens District Hospital

The ANMF prepares for discussions with the North Eastern Soldiers Memorial Hospital (NESMH) regarding ongoing workload disputes. Plans are also underway to extend support to the St Helens District Hospital concerning Emergency Department (ED) presentations and workload, with consideration being given to a combined campaign in this space. The meeting schedule is to be confirmed soon. Stay tuned for updates on this evolving situation.

District Hospital Workload Concerns

Following recent visits workload concerns were raised at some District Hospitals. Further consultation with ANMF members will be held in the coming weeks to gather data to develop a strategy that will be presented to address these concerns. ANMF members can lodge their workload concerns/grievances with our ANMF Northern Organiser, Nicki Hood via email at Nicki.Hood@anmftas.org.au.

Updates are correct as of 4 April 2024.
