Public Sector Updates – North

Launceston General Hospital (LGH)

Operating Room Suite (ORS) TSO Work Bans

The ANMF has received advice that TSOs in the ORS currently have work bans in place that could materially affect the workload of nurses. View the latest update.

Emergency Department (ED)

We have been informed by members that the ED staffing levels for the PM and ND shifts of Friday 2 August 2024 and the AM and PM shifts on Saturday 3 August 2024, are critically inadequate. The ANMF understands that these shifts are up to 10 staff short, which has led to bed closures in the department and the necessity for nursing directors to complete clinical shifts over the weekend. Emergency Department (ED) – Benchmarking and Additional FTE WIN

On Tuesday 6 August 2024, the ANMF met with the Acting Deputy Secretary of the Department of Health and the Chief Executive (CE) of Hospitals North to discuss the staffing situation that occurred over the weekend and the previous weekend at the Launceston General Hospital (LGH) Emergency Department (ED). The Acting Secretary of the Department has agreed to staff to the full complement of the 21.3 FTE. View the latest update.

Updates are correct as of 7 August 2024.
