Tasmanian State Budget Overview

The ANMF attended the community budget lock-up on Thursday 12 September 2024 and reviewed the 2024-2025 Tasmanian State Budget papers. The 2024-2025 budget is an expected one with funding allocations being directed to fulfilling State Budget commitments and only includes minor additional funding that will not address the chronic understaffing and access and flow demands that continue to plague the Tasmanian Health System (THS). We stand in solidarity with marginalised communities and against classism, sexism, misogyny, homophobia, queerphobia, transphobia, racism, ableism and ageism. We have zero tolerance for discrimination, harassment and abuse.

The Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation Tasmanian Branch acknowledges the Tasmanian Aboriginal people as the Traditional Custodians of this land. We acknowledge the determination and resilience of the Palawa/Pakana people of Lutruwita who have survived invasion and dispossession and continue to maintain their identity, culture, and rights.

We recognise that we have much to learn from Aboriginal people today, who represent the world’s oldest continuing culture and pay our sincere respects to Elders past, present and emerging.
