Public Sector Updates – South

Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH)

Mother and Baby Unit (MBU)

The ANMF is pleased to announce a significant achievement in our ongoing advocacy for members at the RHH MBU. As a result of our continued communication and representation, the ANMF has secured membership on the Strengthening Capacity for Parenting, Perinatal & Infant Mental Health Services Steering Committee. This important role will allow us to provide valuable feedback on the proposed model of care and clinical environment specifications for the St Johns Park Intensive Parenting Service. Emergency Department (ED)

The ANMF has formally advised hospital management that the proposed implementation of the Emergency Department Patient Transfer Protocol on Monday 31 March 2025 cannot proceed as planned. This follows management’s acknowledgment that patient transfers are not explicitly accounted for in Nursing Hours per Patient Day (NHpPD) and their failure to provide measures to mitigate the increased workload toward staff. Whilst we agree that it is also challenging for emergency nurses to have to complete patient transfers, we firmly believe that whoever is deemed the responsible area to conduct transfers, they should be resourced appropriately. For example, implementation of a dedicated transfer nurse. View the latest update.

Continuing Care Team South

The ANMF provides an update on our application to the Tasmanian Industrial Commission (TIC) regarding matter T14938 – ANMF v MASSA. View the latest update.

Updates are correct as of 2 April 2025.
