Launceston General Hospital (LGH)
Organisers were onsite for the Annual LGH Nursing Expo on Wednesday 7 May 2025. It was a fantastic day celebrating the contributions of Nurses and Midwives. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello and enter our raffle — and congratulations to Georgia from Ward 4N, the lucky winner!
Air Conditioning Upgrade
LGH management has confirmed that funding has been allocated and they are working on plans to upgrade the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system in D Block. As part of the planning process, they are currently exploring options for decanting affected wards to allow the works to proceed safely and with minimal disruption. The ANMF will continue to monitor developments and advocate for member consultation throughout the planning and decision-making process. We will keep members updated as further information becomes available.
Ward 4D/NCCU Change Proposal
The ANMF attended the second benchmarking meeting for 4D and NCCU on Monday 5 May. For Ward 4D, THS are reviewing the DRG’s for category A patients, reviewing the CNC role regarding direct and indirect responsibilities. NCCU has been considered for a Fixed Term Clinical Coach. The ANMF is in the process of booking meetings in Ward 4D and NCCU to provide a full update. Meeting times are to be confirmed.
Ward 5D
On Wednesday 21 May 2025, the ANMF will be meeting with members on Ward 5D to discuss the Step 2 Grievance and Clinical Coaches. the ANMF was advised that the CC was approved, however THS have since reneged on this commitments. Further updates will be provided at the member meeting
Emergency Department (ED)
On Friday 16 May 2025, the ANMF will be meeting with LGH ED members to discuss the outcome of the meeting with THS management to be held on Wednesday 30 May regarding CODE YELLOW.
