Launceston General Hospital (LGH)

 Northern Coronary Care Unit

Following initial benchmarking and member consultation regarding the Phase 2 change proposal, The ANMF has formally advised the Tasmanian Health Service (THS) that the proposed model for the Northern Coronary Care Unit (NCCU) is not supported by members. View the latest update. 

Ward 4D

The ANMF has attended initial benchmarking meetings for the change proposal for Ward 4D and consulted with members. Based on your feedback, we have formally advised the THS that the proposed staffing model is not supported by members. View the latest update. 

Emergency Department (ED)

The ANMF has notified management that members have elected to recommence the code yellow industrial action, with a re-focus on collecting data that may be used should the matter be escalated to the Tasmanian Industrial Commission (TIC), further correspondence will follow please keep an eye out for updates. 

Ward 5D

The ANMF met with members on LGH Ward 5D to discuss the outstanding step 2 grievance from 2023, the step 2 specialist panel recommended the addition of clinical coaches for Ward 5D, however the ANMF has since been advised that this has not been approved. An update will be provided shortly on how to progress this matter. 

Primary Health Service Allambi Services Impacted

Following the recent member meeting during which members, working across multiple services all operating out of the Allambi building, spoke about the lack of consultation following a memo dated Wednesday 16 April 2025 announcing a relocation of staff to a building in Cimitiere Street. 

Despite the best efforts of ANMF members in trying to understand the context of the announcement, the THS has remained tight lipped and has not responded to any correspondence from our members. 

Members raised extremely pertinent questions around the suitability of the building proposed, from use of an open floor design in delivering confidential client services, storage of temperature sensitive equipment and drugs, to safety of staff and clients with the proposed building being in close proximity of nightclubs among some of the concerns raised. 

The ANMF is disappointed the THS has failed to engage in meaningful consultation as is provided to members under the Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Award and has therefore written to the director of nursing requesting a detailed Change Proposal document be provided immediately.
