Ward 5D

The ANMF held a member meeting on Ward 5D to update members on the Step 2 Grievance that has remained outstanding since 2023. The key recommendation from the Step 2 Specialist Panel was the implementation of a clinical coach for the ward. The ANMF has advised the Tasmanian Health Service (THS) that this matter will be escalated to Step 3 if unresolved and is expecting confirmation by close of business Friday, 22 August 2025, on whether the THS will implement a clinical coach for Ward 5D.  

Ward 4D/Northern Coronary Care Unit  (NCCU)

The ANMF held member meetings with staff on Ward 4D and the Northern Coronary Care Unit (NCCU) regarding Phase 2 of the change proposal. NCCU members have endorsed the proposed benchmarking. The 4D member meeting was held on Thursday, 21 August 2025, and further updates will be provided shortly. 

Renal North

The ANMF is escalating the Step 2 Grievance to Step 3 to be heard by the Tasmanian Industrial Commission (TIC). This seeks to have the 2023 benchmarking outcome (a 6.93 Full Time Equivalent (FTE) increase) applied to the establishment. Updates will be provided as the matter progresses. 

Crisis Assessment Treatment Team (CATT) North

The ANMF held a member meeting with CATT North following ongoing workload concerns dating back to 2021. Members reported that these concerns have escalated, with critical short staffing resulting in the service closing at 1800hrs on some days, and the team often left working with only one clinician. This is impacting both patient care and members’ mental well-being. The ANMF has provided this feedback to the group director of Adult Mental Health Services North/North West. Management has advised they plan to hold a meeting with staff and ANMF next week to discuss further (time TBC). 

Allambi Project

The ANMF was disappointed that we needed to write to the decant officer not once, but twice, to remind them of their obligations to include unions in all correspondence and consultation meetings. The ANMF will now be attending the weekly consultation meetings to hear firsthand, along with our members, the concerns/questions relating to the proposed move to the Cimitiere Street location.
