Multi-Disciplinary Allowance

The ANMF has been actively involved in the Multi-Disciplinary Allowance (MDA) working group, which was established as part of the settlement of the Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023. View the latest update 

Public Sector Union Wages Agreement

The ANMF attended the Public Sector Union Wages Agreement (PSUWA) bargaining meeting on Wednesday 24 September 2025. This bargaining process is for all ANMF members working in the public sector who are not Nurses and Midwives. (The Nurses and Midwives Agreement will commence bargaining in early 2026.) 

At the meeting, the ANMF was disappointed that the Government’s negotiator did not have the authority to negotiate. This meant that the joint unions, including the ANMF, were unable to push forward our Log of Claims (LoC) as part of the agreement process. 

The Government has instead made an interim wages offer of:  

• 3% pay increase. 

• All current conditions to remain unchanged. 

• No additional conditions included. 

Bargaining will recommence in February 2026, with uncertainty at this stage about whether there will be any changes beyond the 3% offer. The next bargaining meeting with the Government’s appointed negotiator is scheduled for Tuesday 21 October 2025.

Midwifery Matters

The ANMF is preparing a response to the Midwifery Matters Workforce Strategy released by the Department of Health is a consultation draft on how to ensure that there is a consistent approach to midwifery education across the State and that it allows a sustainable and responsive maternity profession into the future.
