Launceston General Hospital (LGH)

Acute Medical Unit (AMU)

The ANMF is seeking feedback from members working within AMU at the LGH.
 
The annual benchmarking review has been completed, with a proposed increase of 4.08 Full Time Equivalent (FTE) (an additional 84 nursing hours per week). If endorsed by members, final executive approval will be required before recruitment can begin.
 
Once approved allocation of the increased FTE can be determined collaboratively between staff and ward management. At this stage, it is proposed that one additional nurse be rostered on the AM shift, seven days a week, with the remaining 28 nursing hours per week either allocated to shifts with frequent shortfalls (such as Friday afternoons) or left available to allow for flex-up during periods of high acuity. Alternatively, the hours could be used to cover two 6-hour shifts, seven days a week. 

Emergency Department (ED)

The report back meeting to the TIC has been delayed with a new date yet to be scheduled by the TIC. In the interim the Tasmanian Health Service (THS) are yet to provide the ANMF with any of the requested data. No overtime data, no double shift data, no vacancy data, no clarity on recruitment timeframes on the 19 international recruits due to start in November.  

The THS have scheduled a benchmarking meeting for 5D on Thursday 13 November 2025, a member meeting will be booked to discuss this and the ongoing delays with members.  

Ward 5D

The ANMF continues to represent Ward 5D in the TIC in the fight to have a clinical coach for the ward. The report back data has been delayed by the TIC and pending reschedule. At the last meeting, the deputy president requested management meet with executive to discuss the importance of this role yet again for 5D. If not successful, the deputy president has indicated this case will need to go to arbitration.  

Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

The ANMF is attending the 2024-25 benchmarking meeting for LGH ICU on Thursday 13 November 2025, the ANMF will meet with members to discuss the benchmarking data on Tuesday 18 November 2025.

Wombat Ward

The ANMF has not received a response to the Step 1 Grievance raised on Thursday 16 October 2025. The ANMF has reached out to seek advice on when the THS expect to provide a response and have been informed it is pending executive clearance. If not received by end of week the ANMF will meet with members to discuss possible escalation steps. 

Trade Table

ANMF Organisers will be onsite in the cafeteria on Friday 21 November 2025 at 0930hrs -1600hrs, drop by and have a chat with about any current workplace concerns.

Allambi Tasmanian Industrial Commission (TIC) Application

The hearing that was listed with the TIC on Tuesday 11 November 2025 has been adjourned, once we have the new listing date we will inform members.
