Department of Education, Children and Young People (DECYP)

The ANMF has sent a grievance letter to DECYP management. 

On members behalf, following a well-attended Teams meeting of Southern members on Monday 24 November 2025 at 1200hrs. The letter accuses DECYP of failure to consult, regarding scheduling of changes to many members place of work, commencing next year. Changes were made with no, or insufficient, consultation, which is a clear breach of the Grievance Clause in the Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Award 2023, Part VIII, 1. Consultation and Change. 

Following the terms of the Clause, DECYP must retain status quo, produce a Change Proposal for the ANMF and members to examine, then meet, and have enough time to formulate a response, and DECYP are required to schedule meetings in order to explain their decision making to the ANMF and members. If their explanations do not align with members view of it, we will reject their explanation and another meeting with senior managers will be held to step out the changes and try to satisfy the ANMF and members. Failing agreement at this one, we can take the matter to the Tasmanian Industrial Commission (TIC) for arbitration.   

Depending on the DECYP response there may be an opportunity for members to take protected Industrial Action.  

Public Sector Emergency Departments Transfer of Care

An overwhelming majority of responses to our member survey oppose the Department’s proposed reduction of the Transfer of Care (ToC) procedure to 45 Minutes. The ANMF has written to the Department requesting that it not proceed with its plan to commence the new protocols on Monday 15 December 2025. View the latest update.
