Outcome of 45 Minute Transfer of Care protocol set to be determined in Tasmanian Industrial Commission meeting
10 February 2026
The Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (Tasmanian Branch) invites Tasmanian media to discuss the outcome of the Tasmanian Industrial Commission hearing at 2.00pm on Wednesday, 11 February.
ANMF Branch Secretary Emily Shepherd said the Tasmanian Industrial Commission President will list matters for arbitration at a future hearing.
“The President will decide which matters will be determined by arbitration,” Ms Shepherd said.
“Perhaps the main question will be whether the proposed 45-minute Transfer of Care protocol is safe.
“The ANMF wants the operating environment to be safe for both patients and staff.
“What we know is that the current 60-minute Transfer of Care protocol is placing pressure on emergency departments and hospitals statewide.
“We are also concerned about the safety of the operating environment when patients are offloaded into inappropriate settings.”
