Catch up on the latest news and updates from the ANMF. Here you will find information relating to the aged care sector statewide across Tasmania.

Royal Commission Update

The Royal Commission has issued background paper #7 outlining the legislative framework for aged care quality and safety regulation.  It provides a very useful summary of the aged care regulatory environment, including the new Aged Care Quality Standards and National Aged Care Mandatory Quality Indicator Program.  You can access all background papers issued by the Royal Commission here. https://agedcare.royalcommission.gov.au/publications/Pages/default.aspx.

We also remind you that the Royal Commission will be in Hobart from November 11-15, 2019.  If you wish to make a submission (individually or as a group) the ANMF Member Support Team are happy to review your draft and provide advice. Please allow plenty of time for the review before the submission date. You can contact the ANMF Member Support Team via email or phone: membersupport@anmftas.org.au or (03) 6223 6777.

Glenview

Survey results are now in and the ANMF are finalising a log of claims for both nursing and general staff.  This will be the first nursing enterprise agreement at Glenview in more than a decade and the first ever enterprise agreement for non-nursing staff.  The ANMF will be seeking feedback from members on a draft log of claims in the coming weeks. The next negotiation meeting is scheduled for 1 October 2019. Keep an eye out for details via email.

Southern Cross Care – Mary’s Grange

The ANMF recently attended a meeting with members at Mary’s Grange Southern Cross Care facility to discuss their log of claims. From this meeting members expressed their desire to have a follow up meeting to go over issues concerning workload, morale, and building works. The ANMF visited members at Mary’s Grange on 2 September to touch base and work through outstanding issues as they were raised.

Barrington Lodge

ANMF officials attended a member meeting at Barrington Lodge on 21 August 2019, to discuss enterprise agreement negotiations. Members keenly gave feedback to our bargaining team, and the ANMF encourage members to continue to provide input pending the next bargaining meeting.

Queen Victoria Homes – Lindisfarne

The ANMF will visit members at Queen Victoria Homes this Thursday 5 September 2019. This meeting is open to members and non-members wishing to join the ANMF.  We ask that any members with concerns about workload, staffing and morale please attend and speak with ANMF staff during this time. An afternoon tea will also be provided.

May Shaw Aminya and James Scott Wing

The ANMF met with members on Friday 23 August, to discuss the progress of the underpayment of wages matter before the Fair Commission conciliation process. The ANMF detailed that May Shaw were prepared to resolve the matter via a two instalments process. We are currently in the process of informing May Shaw of members preference in relation to the offer of settlement. Further updates will be sent via email as they come to hand.
