Launceston General Hospital (LGH) Update

Ward 4D
On 17 October 2019 the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (ANMF Tasmanian Branch) attended the Tasmanian Industrial Commission (TIC) on behalf of members working on ward 4D at the LGH. This conference was to ensure that safe staffing was maintained, on a fixed term basis, whilst the outcome of the business case for additional FTE was considered for approval. The ANMF will attend a report back conference at the TIC (13 November 2019) to ensure that the matter is being progressed. The ANMF attended a consultative committee meeting with the Tasmanian Health Service on 30 October 2019. This meeting was held to discuss staffing concerns and the average bed occupancy. The ANMF will conduct a report back members meeting in the next week.  Read the newsflash here.

Update on banking hours: Launceston General Hospital (LGH), Mental Health Services (North), Primary Health Services (North) and Community Health (North)

The ANMF has become aware that banked hours may not have been accruing as per the Award.  Importantly, we are aware that several members who have worked overtime (and agreed to ‘bank’ the hours) have only been getting 1 hour of banked time rather than the correct overtime equivalent. On the 15 October 2019, the ANMF wrote to the THS requesting the THS do a review to determine how our members are directed to record their banked hours and conduct an audit as soon as practicable, with a correction made to the banked hours for all our members working within the THS. At the time of going to print the ANMF were awaiting a response from the THS regarding the above. The ANMF will provide further updates as soon as they become available.

Updates correct as at 30 October 2019
