Workforce Retention Bonus Grant
The Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation Tasmanian Branch (ANMF) have been fighting for all aged care members in residential aged care and lobbying the Federal Government on a number of issues including the Aged Care Workforce Retention Bonus. Southern Cross Care (SCC) have been reticent to confirm that they will apply for and hand on the Aged Care Workforce Retention Bonus to SCC staff.
However, today the ANMF are pleased to confirm that following ANMF advocacy, SCC have confirmed that they will apply for the bonus and pass this onto SCC direct care staff, as per the Federal Government’s criteria.
The ANMF are pleased to secure this outcome for members and will continue to lobby for all aged care staff on workloads, ratios and better funding and transparency on how Government funds are used by aged care providers. The ANMF are continuing to provide submissions and evidence to the Royal Commission into Aged Care Safety and Quality and will continue to fight vigorously to ensure that the Royal Commission understand that they must legislate ratios in residential aged care.
In addition, the ANMF encourage all aged care members to watch Four Corners on Monday 22 June 2020 which will include ANMF Federal Secretary, Annie Butler, highlighting the lack of respect and support by the Federal Government to protect staff and residents in aged care. You can also get involved while the program is airing on social media and call upon the Federal Government to make ratios law now!
