Celebrating Nursing Excellence – ANMF Delegate of the Year
4 June 2021
The Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation Tasmanian Branch (ANMF) are today recognising and celebrating the amazing efforts of many workplace delegates across the public, private and aged care sectors. The winner of the workplace delegate of the year will be announced at the ANMF Annual Delegates Conference.
“The ANMF Workplace Delegates are instrumental in advocating on behalf of their colleagues on issues that affect their workplace, their colleagues and their patients, residents and clients. Despite the many challenges affecting the health system in all sectors, it is incredibly impressive to see so many dedicated nurses, midwives and care workers who are willing to stand up and take action in support of their colleagues and those they are caring for,” said ANMF Tasmanian Branch Secretary Emily Shepherd.
ANMF delegates have been instrumental in raising challenges associated with workforce shortages and calling upon the Tasmanian Government and Private Sector providers to adequately resource the health system and the Federal Government to implement ratios in aged care.
The most recent success that our workplace delegates have achieved has been securing additional staffing to ensure safe and quality care through the Tasmanian Industrial Commission. This includes additional staffing on the surgical ward at the Royal Hobart and the Launceston General Hospitals where an additional 21.3FTE have been implemented to address workloads associated with access block.
“Our workplace delegates know better than anyone the challenges associated with working in health at present, yet aside from their dedication to their patients, this dedication extends to advocating on behalf of the Tasmanian community and for safe and quality patient care.”
The ANMF look forward to recognising all their workplace delegates as well as the workplace delegate of the year who has been nominated by their peers.
