Health Budget Rally – No Cuts to Health
11 October 2025
WHAT: Unions Rally for Health Budget
WHERE: Parliament House Steps
WHEN: 12 noon, Saturday, 11 October, 2025
The ANMF invites the Tasmanian media to a rally with the AMA, CPSU and HACSU at Parliament house at 12 noon, Saturday, 11 October, 2025.
ANMF Branch Secretary Emily Shepherd said the unions are calling on the State Government to confirm that there will be NO CUTS to HEALTH in the upcoming Budget.
“This is a demonstration of unity and purpose as all health unions join together to call on the Tasmanian Government to protect the Tasmanian Health System in the Budget on November 6,” Ms Shepherd said.
“All the unions are highlighting the Tasmanian Health System – currently in crisis – would be crippled by any further cuts to the already underfunded Health Budget.
“Collectively, we are calling on the Tasmanian Government and the Crossbench to ensure no cuts to health and critical public health services.
“This includes services such as child safety, which also need to be quarantined.”
Ms Shepherd said Health Unions also are urging the Government and Crossbench not to support any funding of election commitments that do not directly relate to supporting the health service or designed to address access and flow issues.
“We need to ensure these funds are directed to ensuring that existing services within the health system are adequately funded so that they can actually deliver the services that are required.
“We are sounding the alarm – further cuts to the Health Budget would catastrophic.”
Ms Shepherd said the Tasmanian Government and Crossbench must consider prioritisation of the health budget and the health of Tasmanians in the upcoming Budget.
“All Tasmanians are cutting their spending in a cost-of-living crisis. They have had to prioritise essentials for daily living.
“We urge the Tasmanian Government to do the same.”
