Acute Care Conference 2025

The ANMF invites the Tasmanian media to its Acute Care Conference at C3 Convention Centre at 10.50am, Tuesday, October 21.

ANMF Branch Secretary Emily Shepherd said the Conference will highlight the need for NO HEALTH CUTS by the State Government in its upcoming November Budget.

“The Acute Care sector is just one huge area which the Liberal Government must protect,” Ms Shepherd said.

“This includes diverse elements of the health system such as Neurodiversity Screening Tools for Paediatric Patients, Hard-to-Heal Wounds and Wound Hygiene, Voluntary Assisted Dying, Navigating Acute Care for people with Dementia, and Precipitous Birth Management in the Emergency Department.”

Ms Shepherd said the ANMF is calling on the Tasmanian Government to protect the Tasmanian Health System in the Budget on November 6.

“The Tasmanian Health System – currently in crisis – would be crippled by any further cuts to the already underfunded Health Budget.

“We call on the Tasmanian Government and the Crossbench to ensure no cuts to health and critical public health services. This includes services such as child safety, which also need to be quarantined.”

Ms Shepherd said the Government needs to ensure funds are directed to ensuring that existing services within the health system are adequately funded so that they can actually deliver the services that are required.

“We are sounding the alarm – further cuts to the Health Budget would be catastrophic.

“All Tasmanians are cutting their spending in a cost-of-living crisis. They have had to prioritise essentials for daily living.
“We urge the Tasmanian Government to do the same.”
