Education, discussion, and awareness around death and dying are important for everyone, but especially health care workers who want to ensure the most considered and inclusive end of life experience for those in their care. To help provide this, the ANMF/HERC are pleased to host Bec Lyons Independent Funeral Director End of Life Doula & You n’ Taboo Co-Founder to present this invaluable and insightful CPD session around death and dying.

This workshop is divided into 4 sessions

  1. Death literacy, processes, and procedures around end of life and after death: the importance of language and helping those in your care understand their rights and options to make informed choices around death and dying
  2. Home funerals: what they are, how they work and why people choose them
  3. Natural burial: the benefits of environmentally friendly ways of handling death
  4. Conversations: working through roadblocks around difficult conversations, and inspiration for starting them

The sessions will conclude with a Q&A with presenter Bec Lyons. This will be an opportunity for participants to discuss the topics covered, as well as death in Australia today, the role of end of life doulas, and how emerging technologies are changing our approaches to end of life care.
