Session Overview

This interactive workshop for catheter care will cover anatomy as well as rationales for the insertion of an IDC/SPC.

It will use evidence-based practice approaches in the care and management of catheters and the client.

Troubleshooting will also be discussed and there will be case studies and clinical simulation to reinforce learning.

What to expect

This session will cover:

  • Troubleshooting tips for male and female catheterisation
  • Use of specialty tip catheters
  • Catheter care
  • UTI Prevention
  • SPC care and troubleshooting

Presenter – Lisa Ansel

Lisa began her nursing career in Burnie in the late 1980s. After graduating she went travelling spending the next 5 years in London. It was here she discovered her passion for Urology and had the opportunity to specialise at St Peter’s Hospital, a renowned Urological Centre.

She currently works at the Royal Hobart Hospital as Clinical Nurse Consultant, Continence & Urology. The service has been expanded from a Continence Nurse Advisor position to offer services to both in and out-patients across the specialty.
