This workshop explores the underpinning theory and techniques of venous access and cannulation.
There will be a theoretical component (can be undertaken in your own time) which includes 2 hours of reading and assessment via the HERC E-learning platform, to be done prior to the practical session.
The practical session will run for 2 hours. Participants will have practical time to learn about the appropriate techniques for phlebotomy and cannulation, best practice, and available devices. During this session, participants will work on simulated arms. This is a hands on, face-to-face session for all attendees.
What to expect
In this two-hour workshop participants will be reviewing back to basics knowledge on the venous system and vein selection for cannulation. They will also learn the theory of phlebotomy and related essential knowledge, the theory of cannulation, best practice techniques, and device selection. Enjoy getting involved with a practical session in which participants can utilise the skills they have learned throughout the day in a simulated environment.
